Marc Plawner

(PT, Cert. MDT)

Marc Plawner PT, Cert. MDT. is a co-founder of Impact Physical Therapy which was established in 2020. His primary goal for establishing a practice was to provide the local community with a superior rehabilitation experience which focuses on providing one-on-one, manual-based therapy, functional exercises and evidence-based treatments delivered by highly skilled and effective therapists. Marc graduated from Richard Stockton University in 1999 with a Masters in Physical Therapy. Shortly after graduating, Marc pursued his interest in the area of ergonomics by joining New York City based ergonomic equipment manufacturer Humanscale. During his time at Humanscale, Marc had the opportunity to perform onsite office ergonomic workstation assessments, design and perform corporate ergonomic education programs and staff training seminars, and collaborate with the Humanscale award winning design team on new products.

Affected by the events of 9-11 and interested in New York City’s 2005 response to the problem of occupancy evacuation from high-rises during an emergency situation, Marc, along with his wife’s assistance, spent the next six years consulting, designing and educating large commercial and city property managers and owners on the importance of installing vital evacuation systems with durable high quality materials and with proper installation techniques to ensure their integrity and longevity.

Interested in returning to his rehabilitative roots, Marc joined a local regional hospital in 2010 where he met co-founder Chris Lang, DPT and had the opportunity to work in both acute and outpatient settings. Marc has earned multiple certifications which include: Certified in the McKenzie Method (MDT), Functional Movement Screen certified (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment certified (SFMA) and Graston technique certified. As a dedicated clinician, he is motivated to ensure every patient achieves the outcomes they desire, are pleased with their rehab experience and care, and return back to their normal activities as quickly as possible.

In the last 10 years, Marc and Chris have witnessed, with concern, the changes in how physical therapists and clinics deliver care in response to declining insurance reimbursement rates. Unfortunately, many of their patients have reported experiences at clinics where quality therapists are under significant production pressures and find themselves in a situation where they are double or tripled booked with patients. Many of these patients are left alone to perform their exercises without input, feedback or corrective cuing while their therapist works with other patients. Marc and Chris started this practice for patients to receive the highest quality care from therapists who are given the resources and time to deliver it.

Marc was born and raised in East Brunswick NJ and enjoys spending time with his wife Roula and two daughters, Melina and Amandine. In his spare time he enjoys snowboarding, swimming, playing tennis and golfing.

As Impact PT practice owners, Marc and Chris’ core mission is to improve the health and well-being of the community through a unique patient-driven treatment model focusing on defining each patient’s individual needs, improving their awareness and understanding of the injury or condition and providing undivided professional attention during every visit to ensure uninterrupted rehab progress and maximum results.
